Parking Meter Debit Cards

Parking Meter Debit cards are the same size as a credit card and can be inserted in electronic parking meters to purchase time.  Parking Meter Debit cards only work with McKay and Duncan meters.  They do not work on the green Pay & Display meters.

The cards are very easy to use. Just insert the card in the meter to see how much credit is remaining on the card.  When using the card, simply pull out the card when the amount of time you wish to purchase is reflected on the meter screen.

Types of Electronic Parking Meters that Accept Parking Meter Debit Cards:

The City of Sacramento has two types of electronic meters which accept meter debit cards: MacKay and Duncan. To ensure that you purchase the correct card for the meter type where you plan to frequently park, please look at the front of the meter to verify whether it is a Duncan or McKay meter.

The newer Pay & Display meters (green kiosks) do not accept parking meter debit cards. However, they do accept  credit cards and coins. Learn more about Pay & Display Stations.

Important Reminders About Meter Debit Cards

  • The purchase of a Meter Debit Card does not guarantee a parking space.
  • Electronic meters accept Meter Debit Cards, quarters, or a combination of both.
  • Meter Debit Cards are very durable with normal usage.  Make sure to keep Meter Debit Cards away from extreme heat, water moisture, and electrical shock.
  • No refunds will be issued for unused, lost, stolen or damaged cards.
